Dear Sorina, Lianna, et all,

Panic! THE end of a cult <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Emd5K8Sphu4> , ladies and gentlemen! I can’t compile that fact in my head.

Sorina left the building, and leave us. What shall we do?

Yes, there was a time when people were understanding S in SEEDIG as Sorina.

Yes, there was a time when people were dividing us as “her people” (a.k.a. cult members) or “not her people”.

Yes, there was many ups and downs.

But, hey, it’s normal. We live in Balkan area, this should be normal for us to divide and to create crazy theories… We successfully exported those ideas everywhere, even to USA, but this is not a topic here…

There is an old saying in our part of the world, it goes something like this - dust rises behind a good horse… It means – those crazy stories as a “dust”, they appears and grows behind good and valuable people, and their hard work.

This is also the answer on the question why there was no people connecting D in SEEDIG with my name… ;)

All kudos to new members of the exe com, Liljana and Bogdan, and I wish you many fruitful years ahead, with many SEEccess in future work. I am sure that you will drive this SEEDIG boat well.

Sorina and Lianna, thanks for long and hard SEEDIG work! This was amazing drive! Amount of work, time and energy that you put in SEEDIG is huge.
I have no doubts that you will stay around, and I have a proposal>

You can join me, there are empty seats here behind Statler, Waldorf <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statler_and_Waldorf> and me. From this balcony, the view on SEEDIG stage is DA best J

Cheers,

Dusan

Dear Sorina

Thank you for all your accomplishments over the years.

Agree with Zoran here - you’d always be part of SEEDIG.

I agree with your focus points for SEEDIG - a lot of work ahead.

Congrats also to the new incoming leadership, Ljiljana and Bogdan!

Best regards

Dear Sorina,

I truly do not believe you will be absent.

One way or another you will be in SEE (DIG).

Myth or not, many of us applaude your efforts in SEE.

Keep safe!

Subject: [seedig] Ending my SEEDIG ExeCom journey

Dear SEEDIG community,

As you know, my term on the Executive Committee has ended and I have decided not to run for re-election this time. After over six years at the helm of SEEDIG, it is both time for me to take a break (for a combination of reasons) and for some other voices to power the ExeCom. Taking a step back has not been an easy decision, but, if there was ever a good time for this, it is now (the ‘kid’ should be ready to start walking on its own).

SEEDIG has emerged from an informal discussion between a few people who were wondering what could be done to foster more dialogue and cooperation on Internet issues in SEE+. It started with a rather small meeting and no clear idea of what next. It has then grown at an incredible speed (especially for a fully voluntary-based initiative) and I am very much proud and honoured for having been part of this journey. I would like to thank all those who have brought their valuable contributions to SEEDIG over the years, including community members and volunteers, partners and sponsors, and colleagues in the ExeCom.

SEEDIG has had its ups and downs, but it has somehow always managed to stand strong, building on the opportunities and learning from the challenges. Over the years, my name has been associated with both good and bad things within SEEDIG, and my journey has not always been easy. But I trust that through my work – which has included things as diverse as building websites, managing capacity development programmes, handling relations with partners and sponsors, and coordinating preparations for annual meetings – I have managed to bring a contribution to the growth and strengthening of the initiative. Looking back at the broader picture, SEEDIG has been an amazing working and learning experience for me, and I am immensely grateful for having worked with so many inspiring people along the way.

As I leave the Committee, I would like to emphasise a few key points I believe SEEDIG should focus on: strengthening the community and its engagement in the work; enhancing and expanding partnerships with entities from within and beyond the region; building long term sustainability and relaunching the work on giving SEEDIG a legal identity; ensuring SEEDIG remains a year-long process and the various tracks of work launched so far are continued and enhanced as much as possible. I encourage the ExeCom, the community, and the network of partners to work together on these and other issues that will ensure SEEDIG can stay true to its vision of supporting the digital advancement of the SEE+ region.

I extend my wholehearted congratulations to Liljana and Bogdan as the newly elected ExeCom members. And I trust that, together with Olga, Sara and Sonia, they will drive SEEDIG towards further growth and recognition within and beyond the region. The floor is yours, colleagues, and I wish you the best of luck! And I remain available (together with Lianna) to assist with advice when required, especially on matters related to SEEDIG’s institutional memory.

Kind regards,

Sorina

P.S. No, the S in SEEDIG doesn’t stand for Sorina, despite the myths. ;)
