[seedig] Politics - off topic?

Dear Narine,

Thank you for your pointing out the SEEDIg principles; I value them highly. I know about SEEDIG from the beginning; in fact, I organised the 2nd meeting in Belgrade.

I think that I can understand your passion for bringing an important subject of using the Internet in political fights in the region. I am coming from a country that broke-up in a civil war, and as a result, everyone here also suffered from unfairness in reporting.

I don't have anything against you pointing out an interesting article in the UK newspaper. We all, from time to time, share relevant info with the community. The work on SEE newsletter is voluntary – anyone is free to help the team to provide us with a better publication.

I only pointed out that the discussion moved from facts and information to a personal level. I see you deleted that part in quoting. Thank you for helping me express this more clearly; I hope that I will be able to refrain from further interventions.

Danko

Dear Danko,

I do not know you personally, neither you know me...I have been involved in SEEDIG perhaps longer (since its formation), and whenever an email has been sent to SEEDIG ExeComm or to any other SEEDIG representative, we have been been told 'email would not be answered unless they are sent to the SEEDIG mailing list ' (public mailing list). Even when they touch sensitive issues .You can go to the SEEDIG archive and find those discussions. Alternatively, I can forward those emails to you.

My only recent request has been to include some news, published by a respectable international media outlet, such as The Guardian, in the SEE Newsletter, which is not only very interesting, but also highly relevant to the community engaged in Internet Governance.

If there is no political agenda, no bias, if impartiality is respected and balance is kept by the SEE Newsletter, then it is not a problem to refer to that interesting story of Guardian <https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/apr/13/facebook-azerbaijan-ilham-aliyev> .

Best regards,

Narine

Sorry, but do we really need this kind of discussion on the SEE list?

Danko
