Dear SEEDIG Community,
We are pleased to share with you a set of Recommendations for governments/public health authorities and developers regarding a human rights-based approach to design and deployment of COVID-19 tracking apps.
As you know, the Recommendations are the result of a three-months intersessional project within the scope of which a dedicated Working Group examined local practices from nine SEE+ countries and two countries from outside the region. We hope that the provided Recommendations would help to mitigate the negative human rights implications of the tracking apps.
The Recommendations will be presented during the SEEDIG 6 annual meeting at the session ‘Privacy and data protection in SEE+ during the COVID-19 pandemic’ scheduled on 24 September at 11:00 CEST. For more information about the meeting, please, check https://2020.seedig.net/.
We would be grateful if you could contribute to giving more exposure to these Recommendations by sharing them with your respective networks and interlocutors.
We also want to take this opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation to the Working Group for dedicating their efforts and summer time to this intersessional project.
Do not hesitate to contact us in case you have any comments or follow-up ideas.
Best,
Olga
(on behalf of Project Co-Leads)
