Dear Dusan C,

I’ll try to be short>

Mahatma Gandhi, on being asked, “What do you think of Western civilization?,” answered, “I think it would be a good idea”.

My answer is the same on your ideal case of 3 committees - it would be a good idea.

When you see the schema of bodies in ICANN f.e., first reaction is - is this a detailed schema of space shuttle?

Ask Andrea, he can have 2 hours lecture on that and still, students are not quite sure is it a space shuttle or something else ;)

But, if those numerous bodies in ICANN doesn’t collaborate between themselves, then ICANN shuttle will not go to Space.

Bottom line –

collaboration is an essence in multistakeholderism. And this schema was built in “bottom up” manner, by all members of the community.

I expect no less from SEEDIG.

In other words - there is one sign in US that I saw: “WARNING: Water is on the road during rain”

All that I am trying to say – try not to create the rain, nor this kind of signs. Let we have a clear road ahead.

Cheers,

Dusan

Dear Dušan S,

I am happy to hear that your New Year wishes are coming true.

We all have high expectations of the Programme Committee, yet it should be emphasised that the Executive Committee does not have any intention “to control” or “observe” the work of the Programme Committee. On the contrary, it is expected that the Programme Committee will work in close coordination with the Executive Committee in developing the programme, while the overall responsibility for ensuring that the meeting programme is aligned with SEEDIG’s mission, vision and principles rests with the Executive Committee.

Ideally, the Executive Committee would serve as a steering committee and appoint the annual meeting general, programme and local chairs. In this case, the general and programme chairs would take over responsibility for the overall programme. Unfortunately, SEEDIG has not yet come to the point where responsibilities would be split as mentioned above.

With the Programme Committee we have made an important step towards better organised and more effective SEEDIG. Several community members and partners suggested this step to the Executive Committee, including yourself. The decision was also based on our own lessons learned in previous years.

I hope the Executive Committee will manage to introduce more changes for the next planning cycle.

Looking forward to your further comments.

Kind regards,

Dušan C

Dear all,

It seems to me that my first wish for NY become true, and this is good sign for the rest of my wishes.

It’s obvious that there was long cue for the PC, because there is 9 members!

Congrats to elected ones, others – better luck next time.

Very interesting for me is that one member of exe com is included.

Smart move by exe com, because they are trying to observe what is happening in PC, not to control it and one for that task is enough.

All the best and wish you fruitfull work and succes in making SEEDIG agenda great again! (hmmm, last part sounds like a quotation...)

Cheers,

Dusan
