Dear Dušan S,
I am happy to hear that your New Year wishes are coming true.
We all have high expectations of the Programme Committee, yet it should be emphasised that the Executive Committee does not have any intention “to control” or “observe” the work of the Programme Committee. On the contrary, it is expected that the Programme Committee will work in close coordination with the Executive Committee in developing the programme, while the overall responsibility for ensuring that the meeting programme is aligned with SEEDIG’s mission, vision and principles rests with the Executive Committee.
Ideally, the Executive Committee would serve as a steering committee and appoint the annual meeting general, programme and local chairs. In this case, the general and programme chairs would take over responsibility for the overall programme. Unfortunately, SEEDIG has not yet come to the point where responsibilities would be split as mentioned above.
With the Programme Committee we have made an important step towards better organised and more effective SEEDIG. Several community members and partners suggested this step to the Executive Committee, including yourself. The decision was also based on our own lessons learned in previous years.
I hope the Executive Committee will manage to introduce more changes for the next planning cycle.
Looking forward to your further comments.
Kind regards,
Dušan C
