Dear colleagues,
The IGF Dynamic Coalition on DNS Issues (DC DNSI) is looking into
linking Universal Acceptance (UA) readiness with the Sustainable
Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and
specifically the Target 9C, namely to 'significantly increase access to
information and communications technology.' The DC is trying to collect
feedback on four questions pertaining to UA-readiness and SDG 9, to help
determine whether UA-readiness is a contributory factor of
'infrastructure for digital inclusion'.
SEEDIG has been invited to contribute to this exercise, given that IDNs
and UA are issues of high interest for the region. This is why we are
sharing the four questions here, KINDLY INVITING THOSE OF YOU WORKING ON
UA/IDN ISSUES TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO SOME OR ALL OF THEM.
* IS UA-READINESS A COMPONENT OR ASPECT OF 'RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE'?
IF YES, HOW? IF NO, WHY NOT?
* DOES UA-READINESS PROMOTE INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE
INDUSTRIALISATION? IF YES, HOW? IF NO, WHY NOT?
* DOES UA-READINESS FOSTER INNOVATION? IF YES, HOW? IF NO, WHY NOT?
* WOULD UA-READINESS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE ACCESS TO INFORMATION AND
COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY? IF YES, HOW? IF NO, WHY NOT?
Any input will be greatly appreciated, ideally by 3 September. Where
possible, please provide supporting arguments and illustrations. You can
send your answers either publicly via this list or to execom at seedig.net.
We will then compile your answers, try to combine them with information
collected at previous SEEDIG meetings and during the 2017 survey on
IDNs, and send them to DC DNSI.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Sorina
