Thank Sorina, hi to all

I would just like to echo possitive comments on having Slovenia as a host for the next SEEDIG-18.
Am sure this would be a great decision.

Best, Arvin

Dear Sorina and all,

I fully support having the next meeting in Slovenia, the explanation makes perfect sense. I hope this brings SEEDIG the higher visibility and instutional support it deserves.

Dear all,

The election process for a renewed/strengthened SEEDIG executive committee community is expected to last about seven weeks. But SEEDIG activities cannot be put on hold, and, in line with the recommendations of WG Elections, the current executive committee will continue to fulfill its functions until the end of the election process.

In this context, we would like to launch the SEEDIG 2018 cycle, with two key elements:

1. Joint EuroDIG-SEEDIG call for issues

As in previous years, the joint EuroDIG-SEEDIG call for issues will be launched on 1 October. Between October and December, you will be invited to suggest topics for discussion at the SEEDIG and/or EuroDIG meetings next years. More details on Sunday.

2. Host for SEEDIG 2018

As we are already late with announcing the host for the SEEDIG 2018 meeting, it is important to move ahead with this discussion as well.

In short, we have the option of having SEEDIG 2018 hosted in Slovenia. Organisations behind the Slovenian IGF have long expressed their interest in hosting SEEDIG, and the Slovenian Parliament is also willing to support this idea.

Moreover, between July 2017 and June 2018, Slovenia is holding the chairmanship of the South Eastern European Cooperation Process - SEECP (which has 13 member states from the region), and the country is willing to put SEEDIG on the map of SEECP activities. SEEDIG could therefore serve as an example of regional cooperation, in the context of SEECP. In addition, this could bring us more visibility, and open up possibilities for SEEDIG to attract more institutional support within the region (something we do need to focus a bit more on).

For these reasons, we think Slovenia would be a good choice for hosting SEEDIG 2018. Some of our supporting organisations have expressed support for this as well.

We are hereby bringing this option to your attention, kindly asking for your views. Should you have any concerns, please raise them via this list by Wednesday, 4 October.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Sorina
(on behalf of the executive committee)
