Thank you Dusan and Desiree for your kind words.
I have been working for 45 years in computer networks, having the
oportunity to work in 1973-1975 at Kyoto University in a team who built
KUIPNET, actually a copy of ARPANET.  My task in this project was small, I
built client programs for Telnet and FTP, but I could learn in detail how
ARPANET works and continue working in this field after returning to Romania
in 1976.
I could not imagine at that time that the work of all my life will be in
the field of computer networks.
During the 45 years of activity I was the witness of a tremendous
development of electronics and information science.
In 1992, after the fall of comunism, Romania was allowed to get connection
to Internet. Knowing already the TCP/IP architecture, it was very easy for
me to setup the first Internet connection on leased line in Romania and
start providing services for the research and governmental community.
Registering .ro domain name in 1993 came as a natural thing necessary to
provide full Internet services to users.
Now it is time for me to retire.
I leave .RO registry with a good registration and administration system,
with operational IDN and DNSSEC. There are still things which need to be
improved, but I am sure that my young colleagues, who are very competent,
will continue to improve the services.
