[Icann-see] Coordination of SEEDIG activities - executive committee now complete

We are writing to you again with regard to the composition of SEEDIG’s executive committee.


As the deadline for expressing your endorsements for one of the two candidates (Fotjon Kosta and Saso Dimitrijoski) has passed, we would like to inform you of the following:


1. A total of 11 individuals expressed their support for one of the two candidates, by the indicated deadline (5 June). Of these, Fotjon received one (1) endorsement, and Saso ten (10) endorsements.


2. Three (3) additional endorsements were received via the list after the deadline. While we would be hesitant to count these towards the final decision, we mention them here, for transparency reasons: one (1) endorsement for Fotjon, and two (2) endorsements for Saso.


3. Considering the endorsements expressed by the indicated deadline, we are hereby announcing that Saso Dimitrijoski is now the fifth member of SEEDIG’s executive committee.


With this, the composition of the executive committee for the 2017 and 2018 SEEDIG cycles is now a settled matter. We would like to thank those of you who have provided their input into this process. Thank you also to Fotjon and Saso for their candidacies. And congratulations and welcome to Saso.


Finally, we would like to clarify once again the fact that the role of the executive committee is to coordinate SEEDIG activities; we will therefore continue to count on your support and active involvement in defining and planning these activities. (Details on possible next steps will soon follow.)

Dear all,

The deadline for input on aspects related to the coordination of SEEDIG activities has passed, and we would like to thank you for responding to our call and providing your views.

First of all, we are very much honoured by the positive feedback we, as SEEDIG’s executive committee, have received from you. We thank you for this, as well as for your trust and confidence. Given the many expressions of endorsement for the four of us (Aida, Dušan, Lianna, and Sorina) to continue to serve on the executive committee for the 2017 and 2018 cycles, as well as the lack of any formal objection by the indicated deadline, we consider this matter settled. As we continue our roles, we will also continue to rely on your support and overall contribution to the SEEDIG process.

On the second matter, related to the selection of a fifth executive committee member, we would like to inform you of the following:

Three nominations have been received in response to the call. They are listed below, in the order of their receipt:

1. Aleksandar Icokaev
- nominated by Siranush Vardanyan
- no further details or motivation provided

2. Fotjon Kosta
- self-nominated
- no further details or motivation provided

3. Saso Dimitrijoski
- nominated by Ana Kakalashvili, endorsed by Aleksandar Icokaev
- details and motivation (as provided by Ana): ‘Saso is the Director of the Agency for Electronic Communications/telecom regulatory authority of Macedonia (Former Yugoslav Republic of) and represents his country in the ICANN GAC. Saso will be the perfect addition to the current EC composition due to his experience in the field (whether on national, regional or international level). I believe, he will help the EC move smoothly forward in the following next year(s). AND last but not least, he will bring a new stakeholder group to the current EC - the  governmental sector, balancing the group in overall.’

As you have noticed, Aleksandar has decided to decline the nomination and endorse Saso instead. We have reached out to Fotjon and Saso and have their confirmations that they wish to be considered for the SEEDIG executive committee.

As such, we currently have two candidates (Fotjon Kosta and Saso Dimitrijoski). In order to make a decision, we would like to kindly ask for your input once again. Therefore, please indicate via this mailing list, by Sunday, 5 June, whom of the two candidates you wish to endorse.

We will count your endorsements, and will communicate the results immediately after the deadline. We propose that the candidate endorsed by a simple majority of all those expressing their views becomes the fifth member of the executive committee. Silence will be taken as abstention, and not considered towards the final decision.

At this point, if either Saso or Fotjon wish to add something in support of their nominations, they are welcome to do so.
