[Icann-see] Update on the Bulgarian IDN ccTLD

Dear Colleagues,

The process for the establishment of .бг has made some progress.

The evaluation committee has completed their work and selected the applicant NAMES.BG to receive community and government approval/support. A contract has been signed between NAMES.BG and the Ministry of Transport Information Technologies and Communications (MTITC), and the Ministry has publicly announced the choice.

NAMES.BG is an Public Limited Company, founded by the Bulgarian Library Association, the Global Libraries fund, the association of Internet Service providers (SEC), Register.BG (the BG registry), Digital Systems (ISP) and Digital Systems Limited (Software House).
The emphasis on the Libraries is because of the primarily cultural focus of this domain. Mebers of the Global Libraries fund are MTITC, the Ministry of Culture and the association of the Municipalities etc.

We expect the delegation process will start soon and hope the registry to be operational by fall this year.
