Dear Panos,

 

I will be glad to share with you our experience. Please find below my answers on your questions:

 

1.	Is the price of the ccTLD Domain Names the same with the price of the IDN ccTLD Domain Names? – Yes, the price is the same – the annual fee in amount of 30 GEL (approximately 12 Euro);
2.	Was there a sunrise period either for trademark holders or for ccTLD holders? – The sunrise period started after delegation of IDN ccTLD Manager for the period of 6-7 months. Then the 6-months reservation period for both, the trademark holders and the State significance ccTLD holders (for e.x. president, parliament, etc.) were provided and after this, in August, 2016 the registration was opened in .გე IDN ccTLD zone;
3.	Were there any incentives given to Registrars or Registrants in order to promote the IDN ccTLD Domain Names? – We, as the National Regulatory Authority, supported our IDN ccTLD Manager in relationship with the Government, other State Authorities in order to reserve the State significance domain names; also, we have organized an introductory meeting between the Georgian IDN ccTLD Manager and the hosting providers and other potential registrars; presently, I am supporting our IDN ccTLD Manager in relationship with the Patriarchate of Georgia in order to make popular Georgian ccTLD for the Patriarchate and the Eparchies of Georgia;
4.	Does the Registry assign second level domain names for the IDN ccTLD Domain Names, such as ".com.gr", ".gov.gr" etc? - No;
5.	What kind of awareness and advertising campaigns have you implement in order to advertise and promote the use of IDN Domain Names? – First of all, the IDN ccTLD Manager has organized the opening ceremony of .გე; ICANN representative, as well as the Georgian National Regulator, the representative of the Institute of Linguistics, hosting and internet providers and other interested entities participated in this event; the TV and radio transmission of the event has been provided; moreover, the information on the event was published in newspapers and social networks, the official letters to the State Authorities and the Patriarchate of Georgia has been sent, etc.

Dear colleagues,

I hope my email finds you well.

As you may know, Greece has its own IDN ccTLD ".ελ", which is already included in the root (https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/xn--qxam.html). So, now, the time has come to prepare the Regulation on Management and Assignment of ".ελ" domain names.

For this reason, we have prepared a set of (only) five questions, in order to obtain information, experiences, good practices and ideas from you, who have already launched an IDN ccTLD. These questions are:

1.	Is the price of the ccTLD Domain Names the same with the price of the IDN ccTLD Domain Names?
2.	Was there a sunrise period either for trademark holders or for ccTLD holders?
3.	Were there any incentives given to Registrars or Registrants in order to promote the IDN ccTLD Domain Names?
4.	Does the Registry assign second level domain names for the IDN ccTLD Domain Names, such as ".com.gr", ".gov.gr" etc?
5.	What kind of awareness and advertising campaigns have you implement in order to advertise and promote the use of IDN Domain Names?
